We are Juan and Jessica, founders of Happy Backpack, a Christian organization dedicated to assisting those in need and providing essential resources. Our organization was established in memory of José Paz and María Luisa Cruz, my parents, who generously gave to others despite their own modest means. They exemplified the principles of God's word through their actions.

​I, Jessica, would like to share a personal testimony from my childhood, depicted in the accompanying photo. (Down below). The image shows me with my siblings and neighborhood friends, who were also from underprivileged backgrounds. Occasionally, individuals would bring dolls for a brief time, just long enough for us to pose with them for a photograph before taking them away. These fleeting moments of joy left us deeply saddened, as we could never keep the toys. This experience fostered a longing in me to own a toy or a doll, a longing that was never fulfilled.

However, as I reflect on these experiences, I realize that they have shaped our understanding of God's purpose in our lives. We now appreciate the profound impact that even a simple toy or act of kindness can have on a child in need.​Our mission is driven by a heartfelt desire to alleviate the suffering of children facing hardships, knowing that while poverty may persist, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we can help. This commitment is shared by my siblings, who are also featured in the photo, and our entire family, whose inspiration and support continue to strengthen and guide our mission.​
